becoming locals

We have now been on Bribie for 9 months ,its home . Robi and Tracy are just half an hour away in Caboolture and its a very pleasant drive , one road with Bribie at one end and Caboolture at the other .

Christmas came and went without too much hassle ,the heat and humidity were a bit much at times with the Real locals saying " its usually hotter than this" and us thinking OMG.We are now in winter and its great ,a bit nippy early morning and evenings but T shirt weather during the day.

May brought us visitors to stay for a week. Keith and Ailsa en route to the UK ,it was lovely to see them again and Im sure they enjoyed it too.

Here we are in July,time is flying by,Ive always said once you hit 50 it feels like there is only 6 months in a year , at our ages 65 and 75 we are down to 3 but what the hell we are in the right place to enjoy them.

new home

We finally moved in on Oct 11,we had to wait until our new bed could be delivered,we then had to"make" it.This involved screwing together the wooden frame. The rest of our new furniture didnt arrive until 5 or 6 weeks later ,so we had 2 borrowed chairs to sit on and not much of anything else ...we also had to wait a few weeks for our shipping boxes to arrive but when they did it was just like christmas .

We are nicely settled in now and Rob has a large front and back garden to tend so he`s kept busy

Australia

Well,we finally got here after 4 years of waiting. 2years for Robi to be deemed "settled" and another 2 for our visa application to be approved.

We arrived in OZ on Aug 30 2010 ,tired but happy to see the family again . We sent 6 weeks living with Robi and Tracy during which time we bought a car ,a nissan micra and checked out estate agents for rented property .

We already knew we couldn`t afford to buy as we sold our UK house at a loss and house prices here had gone up . Rob decided on Bribie Island as it has nice beach walks (just what he wanted) and we were lucky to find a nice place at a price we can afford.
